CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
The
civil service commission is an independent body set up by the government and
entrusted with the duty of recruiting men into the service by open competition
supplemented by interview in some cases. The commission also handles promotion,
discipline and dismissal of civil servants. The body is made up of chairman and
other members appointed on merit.

UMBUDSMAN
Ombudsman
is a government institution established to examine complaints of inefficient
administration, corruption and unjustified treatment by over-zealous public
authorities or officials against citizens. Ombudsman is also known as the
public complaints commission. Whereas it
has been in Sweden since 1809, it was established in Nigeria in October, 1975.
Function
1.
To examine the complaints of victimized
citizens
2.
To thoroughly investigate reported cases of
bad administration
3.
To protect the rights and liberties of members
of the public
4.
To prosecute officers that are not acting in
conformity with the law, rules and regulations
5.
To ensure efficient discharge of duties
6.
To make recommendations to the government on
improvement.
