INTERPERSONAL
RELATIONS
Meaning: An interpersonal relationship is
a strong, deep, or close association or acquaintance between two or more people
that may range in duration from brief to enduring. This association may be
based on inference, love, solidarity, regular business interactions, or some other type of social
commitment. Interpersonal relationships are formed in the context of social,
cultural and other influences. The context can vary from family or kinship relations, friendship, marriage, relations with associates, work, clubs, neighborhoods, and places of worship. They may be regulated by law, custom, or mutual agreement, and are the basis of social groups and society as a whole.

Types of
friendship
(1)
Friendship of Utility: this exists between you
and someone who is useful to you in some way. E.g. A and B are friends because
each helps the other to do what he can’t do for himself.
(2)
Friendship of Pleasure: this exists between you
and someone whose company you enjoy. These are usually ‘activity buddies’
because they usually do together that thing which they enjoy doing.
(3)
Friendship of the good: this is based on mutual
respect and admiration. It often arises when two persons recognize that they
have similar values.
Based on influence, friends can be classified into good and
bad friends. A good friend is one who has a positive influence on you while a
bad friend is that which has a negative influence on you.
